Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Psalm 91 – Verse 1

The shelter mentioned in the verse is your secret place, your spirit, your inner Self. What do you think, only you know, so it’s considered your secret place. And it’s in your mind that you come into contact with the presence of God. At the time of prayer, praise, contemplation, it is in your secret place that you meet the Divine, that you feel his presence.

To be in the shadow of the Almighty means to be under the protection of God. It’s an oriental proverb which says that children who are in the shade of their father are always protected. Therefore, whoever lives in the shelter of the Most High, that is to say who visits his own sacred place, prays, praises, feels the presence of God and speaks with him, will be under his protection.

Psalm 91 – Verse 2

When you say these verses, you give yourself body and soul to God, trusting with all your heart that he is your father and your protector and that he will be by your side to protect you and guide you throughout your life.

It’s the same confidence that a baby places in his mother, the one who protects, cares and loves, where he feels comfortable. With this verse, you place your trust in the infinite ocean of love that is God within you.

Psalm 91 – Verse 3 AND 4

The meaning of these verses from Psalm 91 is very explicit and easy to understand. In them, God shows that he will deliver his children from all evil: from sickness, the dangers of the world and the wicked.

Psalm 91 – Verse 5 AND 6

These two verses are very strong and need understanding. When we fall asleep, everything in our mind is amplified in our subconscious. Therefore, it is very important to go to sleep with peace of mind, have a quiet night and wake up with joy. Therefore, it is essential to forgive yourself and all those around you before falling asleep, to ask for blessings from God, to contemplate the great truths of the Lord before falling asleep.

The arrow that flies by day and the destruction that rages at noon refer to all the negative energies and bad thoughts that we endure every day. All the prejudices, all the envy, all the negativity in which we are immersed will not reach us if we are under divine protection.

The plague that destroys at noon means all the difficulties we encounter in our life when we are awake, aware: emotional, financial, health problems, self-esteem. Night terrors are the problem that plagues our mind and our spirit, which is magnified when we are “out”, sleeping. All these evils and dangers are sheltered and removed when we pray Psalm 91 and ask for God’s protection.

Psalm 91 – Verse 7 AND 8

This verse shows how you can develop strength, immunity, and protection from evil if you are under the shield of God. Divine protection deflects the path of bullets, prevents the development of disease, repels negative energies, deviates the path of accidents. If God is with you, you need not fear, nothing will happen to you.

Psalm 91 – Verse 11 AND 12

In this verse, we understand how God will protect us and deliver us from all evil: through his messengers, the angels. They are the ones who guide us, who give us impulses of inspiration, bring us spontaneous ideas that come to mind, give us warnings that alert us, think twice before acting, keep us away from people. and places that can bring us harm, protect us from all danger. Angels follow divine directives to advise, protect, give answers and suggest ways.

Psalm 91 – Verse 13 AND 14

By making God your refuge and the Most High your home, you will see that all the shadows will dissipate. You will be able to identify good and bad and thus choose the best path. God will fill your heart and mind with full wisdom to follow the path of peace to be above your problems and free you from all the evils of the world.

Psalm 91 – Verse 15 AND 16

At the end of the verse, God strengthens his commitment to us, assures us that he will be with us and with his infinite kindness and his intelligence will give us the answers we need to follow the path of kindness. God assures us that to make him our refuge and our home, we will have a long life and be saved to eternal life.
